WHO: Wilkinson Center opened in 1982 as a neighborhood food pantry, operating out of the
basement of Munger Place United Methodist Church. Thirty years later, Wilkinson Center
addresses our clients’ most significant issues: basic human necessities (food, clothing, shelter),
education and employment. Families are given the opportunity to escape poverty and become
self-sufficient through multi-generational educational opportunities. Combined with case
management and emergency support services, families learn new skills and set goals to become
self-sufficient. Partnerships with other organizations assist families in learning skills to break the
cycle of generational poverty. Case Managers utilize a holistic plan of poverty intervention
focusing on education for both children and adults, ensuring the family success in their plan to
self-sufficiency.

WHY: To support one of Dallas’ leading organizations that has served the community for over
30 years. Wilkinson Center is a leading poverty rescue and prevention agency for the working
poor, serving over 14,000 people annually, mainly in east and southeast Dallas. Wilkinson
Center offers hope, inspiration, and the basic necessities and tools to empower its clients to
become self-sufficient and improve their lives.
