Can Do Luncheon Award Recipient 2017: The Real Estate Council

The Real Estate Council (TREC) is the largest and most influential organization of its kind, representing 95 percent of the commercial
real estate business in North Texas. Its membership base of more than 2,000 professionals and 600 companies is comprised of developers, architects, builders, brokers, attorneys, bankers, and more. TREC helps members spark community transformation, influence policy and propel careers through networking, educational programs, volunteer opportunities and leadership
development.

The Real Estate Council Foundation is the philanthropic arm of The Real Estate Council and leads community development in four key areas: education, housing, job creation and the environment. Their high-touch, project-based approach is led by TREC members. Each fall TREC members review dozens of applications completed by Dallas nonprofit organizations. Requests are screened for their potential to benefit the community and fit with TREC’s four focus areas.

Grantees receive funding along with a team of TREC volunteers who donate time and expertise to make the project vision a reality. This special combination of financial support and sweat equity binds TREC members to their community and each other in a unique way – creating a powerful force for positive change.

Since its inception in 1994, TREC Foundation has contributed more than $10 million in grant funds to more than 100 nonprofit community organizations supported by their members’ time and expertise, valued at more than $750,000 annually.
